OpenStreetMap volunteers have mapped 1,678 filling stations in the Republic, about 3.3 for every 10,000 residents counted in the 2022 census. The near-me button on this page measures the distance to each of them on the phone itself; no location leaves the device.
No public register of prices by station exists in the Republic. A mandatory scheme, nicknamed PumpWatch, was proposed by a Fianna Fáil TD in 2026 but has not become law; the figures quoted across this site are national averages, while the North publishes town averages through the Consumer Council.
Circle K has the largest mapped network with 316 sites, followed by Top Oil (202) and Applegreen (161). Another 384 sites are recorded without any brand, which usually means an independent or a detail not yet added.

Is there an official list of petrol prices at every station in Ireland?
No. Forecourts must display prices on site, but there is no legal duty to report them to a public database in the Republic; a proposal known as PumpWatch has not been legislated.
How many petrol stations are there in Ireland?
OpenStreetMap has 1,678 filling stations in the Republic as of 1 Oct 2026. Industry and press estimates usually put the number of retail forecourts at about 1,500; the map also includes some marinas, depots and small rural pumps.
Does the near-me finder track my location?
No. The phone works out the distance to each station itself, using a list downloaded from this site; the position is never sent anywhere.
